چکیده

We present electrical resistivity (ρ(T )) and specific heat (Cel(T )) measurements of alloys on the Rh rich side of the phase diagram of the Ce(Rh1−xPdx)2Si2 system and compare the results with those obtained at intermediate and low Rh concentrations. The analysis of the x-evolution of the entropy and the scaling behaviour of Cel(T ) and ρ(T ) clearly confirm a separation of the magnetic phase diagram into two regions. The region x ≤ 0.3, showing a concentration independent characteristic temperature To ≈ 45K, while for x > 0.3 To decreases down to To(x = 1) ≈ 15K. This characteristic temperature is obtained by scaling the Cel(T, x > 0.3) results as a function of the reduced temperature T/To. At low Pd-content, the antiferromagnetic ordering temperature TN decreases very rapidly from TN = 36K in pure CeRh2Si2 to TN = 18K at x = 0.1. With higher Pd concentration it stabilized at TN ≈ 15K whereas the magnitude of the anomalies in Cel(T ) and in the susceptibility around TN are further reduced and disappear at x ≈ 0.3. This is in contrast to the behavior found on the Pd-rich side, where TN decreases continuously to zero with increasing Rh content. The pronounced differences observed between both phase boundaries and the drastic effect of doping on the Rh rich side suggest an itinerant character in CeRh2Si2, in contrast to the localized character of CePd2Si2. A further evidence for the itinerant character in CeRh2Si2 is given by the ρ(T ) dependence observed for x ≤ 0.3, which scales with ρ(T ) of the prototype itinerant compound YCo2. The exponent (n) of the power law observed in ρ(T ) at low T presents a broad minimum with n ≈ 1.2 in the intermediate concentration range 0.4 ≤ x ≤ 0.6, which we attribute to the effect of the random atomic distribution of Rh and Pd in this region. ARPES view on surface and bulk hybridization phenomena in the antiferromagnetic Kondo lattice CeRh2Si2

The hybridization between localized 4f electrons and itinerant electrons in rare-earth-based materials gives rise to their exotic properties like valence fluctuations, Kondo behaviour, heavy-fermions, or unconventional superconductivity. Here we present an angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES) study of the Kondo lattice antiferromagnet CeRh2Si2, where the surface and bulk Ce-4f spec...

Nature of the two quantum critical points in Ce„Ru1−xRhx...2Si2 (x=0.4 and 0.6)

The magnetic phase diagram of Ce Ru1−xRhx 2Si2 contains a spin-density-wave SDW magnetic ordering temperature approaching T=0 at both x 0.03 and 0.35–0.4 i.e., a dome-shaped phase boundary and long range, local moment antiferromagnetism, TN=36 K, in pure CeRh2Si2 suppressed with Ru doping to T=0 at x 0.6–0.65. This latter possible second quantum critical point QCP , and the possible interplay b...

Magnetic field dependence of the antiferromagnetic phase transitions in Co-doped YbRh2Si2

We present first specific-heat data of the alloy Yb(Rh1−xCox)2Si2 at intermediate Co-contents x = 0.18, 0.27, and 0.68. The results already point to a complex magnetic phase diagram as a function of composition. Co-doping of YbRh2Si2 (T N = 72mK) stabilizes the magnetic phase due to the volume decrease of the crystallographic unit cell. The magnetic phase transitions are clearly visible as pron...

An itinerant antiferromagnetic metal without magnetic constituents

The origin of magnetism in metals has been traditionally discussed in two diametrically opposite limits: itinerant and local moments. Surprisingly, there are very few known examples of materials that are close to the itinerant limit, and their properties are not universally understood. In the case of the two such examples discovered several decades ago, the itinerant ferromagnets ZrZn2 and Sc3I...

Investigation of the magnetic interactions in Co2FeAl alloy nanoparticles using FORC analysis

This paper demonstrates the results of the detailed studying of the magnetic behavior of Co2FeAl alloy nanoparticles synthesized through a co-precipitation method. First order reversal curves (FORCs) diagrams were used consequently. The obtained results showed that the prepared alloys consist of a mixture of the low-coercivity grains (Hc ~ 0), and interacting single-domain high-coercivity grain...
